michael colella
Assistant Coach
Prior to joining the Perkins’ staff in January of 2023, Colella worked full time, while also serving as the Head Novice/U17 Coach for the Oakland Strokes Women.
Colella brings elite rowing experience from his time training for the US National Team. Michael competed at the 2018 and 2017 World Championships in the men’s pair (15th & 11th place respectively) and competed in the 2016 U23 World Championships in the men’s 4- (4th place finish).

At Cornell, Colella served as Commodore his senior year and was a three-year varsity eight athlete highlighted by a 5th place finish at Eastern Sprints in 2016.

Colella’s rowing career began at Bethesda - Chevy Chase High School and Thompson Boat Center, where he has also spent much time supporting in different coaching capacities.
