Thanks to Tom Gates '73, Erik Wessel '14, Dale Jordan '16
Summary of 2010 to 2019
This 2010 to 2019 period in NU Rowing history was the second decade of John Pojednic as Head Coach. During this period NU saw five other Associate or Assistant coaches supporting Coach Pojednic. This included four former NU oarsman, David Burke, Dan Walsh, Ted Sobolewski and Justin Jones. In addition, Ted Benford was an Associate Coach and went on to be the Executive Director of Community Rowing in Boston. As the 2010 and 2011 seasons started, there was a need to build team depth with new freshman. Freshman eights won Bronze at the 2011 Sprints and Silver at the 2012 Sprints and Bronze at the 2012 IRA. This would help the varsity level team succeed with a number of medals in the middle of the decade. This included Varsity Bronze at 2013 Sprints and Silver at the 2015 Sprints. The 2V won Gold at the 2014 Sprints and Bronze at the 2015 Sprints. While the later part of 2017 to 2019 had a no eight boat medals, there were a number of times the team entered the championship finals at the Sprints and IRA.

Compiled by Tom Gates '73
NU began the season at the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Club 8 team secured 2nd place, trailing Brown but ahead of Harvard, featuring several freshmen. In the Championship 4+, NU finished 6th overall, 4th among collegiate teams. The Championship 8's saw Yale win over Cal, with NU placing 10th after interference caused a 20-second delay. They were on pace for a record time at Weld. The season concluded at the Foot of the Charles Regatta where NU’s “B” boat took 3rd in the V4+ event behind Harvard and Brown’s “A” boats, impressing Coach Pojednic with their performance. NU’s “A” boat placed 7th.
The Spring dual races began with both 1V and 2V wins over Penn reclaiming the Burk Cup and finished the season with a 1V win over Wisconsin to retain the Congram Cup
