The 2020's - Program Transitions
Pandemic and Coaching Transitions
Thanks to Rex Berger '22 and Tom Gates '73
The 2020 decade began coming off a strong 2019 year with the 1V finishing 5th in the nation at the IRA Regatta. There was a lot of anticipation for improvement and growth of the Men’s Program as the decade started. But the momentum was dashed in the first part of the decade by the Covid19 pandemic that started in early 2020. This pandemic would impact development of the teams, recruiting and coaching as the program transitioned through 3 head coaches from 2021 to 2023. More to come as the decade develops.
2024 Team History
At the 2023 Head of the Charles Regatta, in the Championship 8 Event, the 2V stroked by freshman Cameron MacGillivray had the distinction of finishing first among all 2V entries ahead of Navy, Harvard and Washington and 10th among all collegiate entries. The 1V stroked by grad student Alexander Abuhoff finished 4th among all collegiate entries behind Harvard, Princeton and Yale and were in 6th place overall. In the Club 8 Event, the NU 3V stroked by Paul Phillips finished 5th among collegiate entries and 6thoverall.
