Tom Gates '74
Secretary
Tom is a retired technical product marketing engineer. Having graduated from Northeastern in 1974 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering he designed and supported sales of industrial centrifuges at DeLaval Separator Co. in both Hyde Park, MA, and Poughkeepsie, NY. However, the majority of his career (36 yrs.) was at Rotron Inc., Woodstock, NY, where he held various positions in marketing and sales including Dir. of Marketing and Southeast Regional Sales Manager. Rotron manufactures highly technical compact air moving devices for cooling electronic systems on defense and aerospace platforms.
Tom was a cox his freshman and sophomore years before becoming Head Manager in '71 and '72, spending many happy hours at the controls of Coach Arlett's launch. And, was president of the first NURA organization in 1975. He started sculling lessons in 2013 at Nashville Rowing and has continued at Mid-Hudson Rowing Assoc. in Poughkeepsie, NY, since retiring. He sculled in his first Head of the Charles in 2021. He has two grown children and resides with his wife, Gail, in Rhinebeck, NY.
