Walt Mullen '96

Walt is a 1996 graduate and was the coxswain of several Huskie crews that medaling at both the IRAs, Eastern Sprints, and National Championships during his tenure. Most notably in 1995 the Huskies broke a several year streak to beat Brown in the Varsity 8+ at the Eastern Sprints placing second to Princeton. He was also part of a 4+ that won the National Championships for the Huskies in 1994.
Additionally, Walt was the Herbert W. Gallagher Award Winner for Student Athlete of the Year, a USRowing Collegiate All American and a 3-time US National Rowing Team Member. In 1993 Walt and fellow Huskie, Mike Porterfield, were coached by their Huskie Coach, Buzz Congram, representing the US in the 2+ at the World Championships.
Walt holds an MBA from Cornell University and is a seasoned executive who has spent much of his career in financial services with a heavy focus on both organic and acquisition growth as well as data and technology.
Walt and his wife, Amy, live in Moorestown, NJ not far from his Philadelphia roots. He and Amy have also made a legacy gift to Northeastern Men’s Rowing by naming Men’s Rowing in their Wills to help support the program for years to come.
